Peters has had the benefit of watching his two older
brothers, Justin (Carolina Hurricanes) and Anthony (Canadian University system)
go through their draft years. Both goaltenders, Alex on the other hand, seemed
to find a fit on the blueline. And that decision has paid off for him, as he
has been able to learn from his brothers, in terms of positioning, on where to
be to make it easier for his goaltender to stop the puck.
However, positioning is not his only strength. With great
size, Peters also has the temperament to be a solid defensive dman. He plays the
game with a physical edge and doesn’t shy away from finishing his checks, but
also displays a good reach, breaking up plays with his stick as well as his
body.
The big defender wants to work on his offensive but has
shown a good first pass. Peters make good decisions at both ends of the ice and
has certainly garnered some attention for his defensive focus, standing out in
the CHL Prospects Game, showcasing his shutdown potential.
