Tkachev has some serious offensive potential and should garner even more attention now that he has come over to play in North America. Drafted by Avegard Omsk in the 3rd round of the 2012 KHL Draft, and in the 1st round of the 2013 CHL Import Draft, Tkachev spent the first half of this season playing in Russia, scoring 19 points in 16 games with Omskie Yastreby. Since joining Moncton, Tkachev has shown good chemistry with fellow import, Ivan Barbasev, scoring six points in four games.

A “magician” with his hands, the shifty winger has great offense instincts. Highly skilled, creative and crafty is the perfect way to describe his game. A great skater with good speed, the Russian winger also displays excellent lateral quickness and explosive acceleration, making him tough for opposing defenders to handle.

Historically good on the bigger rinks across the pond, it will be interesting to see how well he adapts to the smaller rink and more physical North American style. If his first four games are any indication, fans and scouts should be in for a good show.
