Player Overview
Minney has been playing extremely well since moving up to the U18 level. In 26 games this season, he has compiled a 12-7-1 record with a strong GAA of 2.70 and a .905 save percentage. And he will surely hope to parlay this season into a successful stint at Michigan State, which he is planned to attend in the fall.

Minney, a big goalie, takes up a lot of the net with his large frame. Even when he is down in the butterfly, he doesn’t leave much open space for shooters. And despite that larger frame, Minney doesn’t give up much in terms of athleticism. Very mobile in terms of getting out to challenge the shooter, he also moves side to side extremely well.

His rebound control would also have to be one of his greatest strengths. Scouts consider him to be a step above many others in his age group in that category.

However, Minney’s rise was not without hard work, facing challenges and obstacles has only made him stronger. With a great on-ice focus though, Minney is keeping USA Hockey on top among North American goalies.
