DeAngelo has been on the radar for years after joining the USHL at the ripe age of 14. The youngest player to ever play in the league, the offensive defenseman has since brought his skills to the Ontario Hockey League and has seen no shortage of success. With 53 points in only 35 games, DeAngelo has almost matched his previous season’s production in about half as many games.

A very passionate player, DeAngelo has exceptional playmaking ability, complimented by his great vision. He displays great hockey sense, and good puck skills, but also a good shot that he is able to get on net. Generally, a good decision making, he is sometimes prone to overhanding the puck and gets himself in trouble. Overall though, he is a dynamic offensive talent who excels with the puck on his stick.

His defensive game on the other hand has been one aspect that needs improvement. With great wheels and a quick stick, he doesn’t panic and has certainly been maturing defensively in his third season in the OHL. DeAngelo, despite his smaller stature, also tries to add a physical dimension to his game. Sometimes that can get him into trouble though, due to his hot-tempered personality.

A great skater, he tries to emulate the play of All-Star LA Kings defender, Drew Doughty. And while there is still some work to be done, in terms of his offensive game, DeAngelo is one of the best defenders available.
